Adult and parent virtual therapy

Throughout Michigan and florida

There’s no manual
for the path you’re on —
let’s start with what
can’t wait

The right connection, in a space you can be fully honest, can change what’s possible in your home, your relationships, and within you.

If something needs attention right now, that’s where we begin, whether it’s a conflict that keeps repeating, a child who isn’t eating, or a part of you that needs to be heard.

HOW I WORK

Therapy with me is real. Affirmation, laughter, question asking and gentle guidance are all a part of that. I’ll be honest about what I’m noticing and help you make sense of what’s happening. When it helps, we’ll dive into family, cultural, and inherited patterns you never consented to. That insight is only the beginning.

Together, we’ll turn it into change you can feel in your everyday life. When a part of you shows up angry, shut down, or exhausted, we’ll slow down and get to know it instead of fighting it. And when things get messy, I’ll stay with you, because being met in the mess is often where the real healing starts.

Trained in what works

Evidence-based modalities chosen by what we find and what the work is asking for.

The schedule can flex, too. Some seasons call for weekly sessions, others for longer ones or an intensive, and sometimes the most useful hour is a call with your doctor or your child's school.

I’m a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in Michigan, with a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan. I have advanced training in Internal Family Systems and EMDR, specialized training in CBT-AR for ARFID and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, and adoption-competent clinical work.

Meet Sara Havlik, LMSW

Before I ever sat in the therapist’s chair, I worked as a group facilitator, consultant, and cultural worker. That background shapes how I practice, as I pay attention to the systems and stories that shape you and your family. Because the hardest things we carry rarely start with us.

I’m also an adoptive parent, and I’ve sat on the other side of many of the conversations I now hold. That isn’t a credential, but sometimes it’s worth more than one.

A conversation, not a commitment

  • 01

    A FREE 15-MINUTE CONSULT

You share roughly what’s going on. I’ll tell you honestly whether I’m the right fit, and if I’m not, I’ll point you to someone who might be.

  • 02

    A FIRST FULL SESSION

More history, more context, and a shared sense of what we’re working on. You don’t need to have it organized beforehand.

  • 03

A PLAN BUILT AROUND YOUR LIFE

We decide the length, frequency, and format together. Whether that’s weekly sessions, an intensive, or something else that fits.

  • 04

    KEEP EVERYONE IN THE LOOP

Where it helps, I coordinate with the people who support you or your child, like a doctor, psychiatrist, school, or occupational therapist, so everyone has the same full picture to work from.

What this
practice
stands on

Real life gets real language

Therapy can be both deeply effective and deeply human. Here, the conversation sounds like two people telling the truth, and messy things get called messy, so you’re never left alone with them.

Brave doesn’t have to be loud

Sometimes brave is quiet. It looks like making room for every part of your story, instead of flinching away from the parts that are hardest to hold. And when you can invite those parts in, there’s more room to get curious about your life again.

Naming the system is how you get past it

Inherited scripts, cultural expectations, and patterns no one agreed to get named out loud. The grip starts to loosen when they are known.

Every part of you is welcome

Your culture, gender, race, sexuality, ability, and the way your family came together all belong here. So do the parts that are tired, angry, grieving, or hard to say. You can bring them exactly as they are, and we’ll get curious about them together.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The systems
that shape us

We all live inside systems. A few we chose, most we didn’t, and they were shaping us long before we had words for them.

As you feel steadier, we bring more of your life into view: your family, your culture, your work, the people who count on you, and the expectations that came with all of it. Your race, gender, sexuality, faith, and the way your family came together belong here too. Mapping all of it is part of how we find a way through, because it’s hard to navigate something you can’t yet see.

Liberation, in this practice, means
getting free of what’s been holding you back and finding steady ground for
what matters to you.

You don’t need to have it all figured out

Arriving unsure, mid-mess, and without words for what you’re walking through is exactly where most people begin.
