Radically vulnerable
therapy for real life
Therapy for adults, support for parents, and intensives for the
weeks that can’t wait.
SESSION SHAPED FOR
WHAT YOU NEED
Weekly, more often, or all at once
A lot of therapy is shaped around what insurance will approve. That typically looks like 50 minutes, once a week, with a diagnosis attached so the session can be billed.
That model was designed for billing, not for people. All too often, it ends a session right as you might feel you’re getting somewhere.
I also coordinate directly with the other professionals in your family’s orbit, like the school, the pediatrician, or the occupational therapist, because care that happens in silos can cost your family months.
This practice was built differently.
Sessions run as long as the work requires, intensives are available for the weeks where waiting seven days isn’t reasonable, and frequency can be heavier for a season and lighter after.
You don’t need a diagnosis to be seen.
THERAPY FOR ADULTS
Find your way back to you
Support for anxiety, depression, burnout, life transitions, and complex trauma, with specialized care for OCD and ARFID.
Some of what shaped you arrived too early, piled up over years, or came without the support anyone would need to hold it. You may not even call it trauma. That’s often what complex trauma looks like, and it can shape a life as much as any single event.
From the outside you look fine, capable, organized, and the one people lean on. On the inside, you’ve been away from your own needs for so long that they’re hard to even name.
WHAT THE WORK LOOKS LIKE
I work primarily in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR.
IFS starts from the idea that every part of you developed for a reason, including the ones that wear you out, so we get curious about what each part has been protecting.
EMDR helps your brain and body process what was too much to take in when it happened.
For adults with OCD, I use Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), which helps you gradually loosen your grip on obsessions and compulsions, step by step, at a pace we build together.
For adults with ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), I offer CBT-AR, a specialized, structured approach that can be hard to find.
You’ll come away with language for patterns that used to feel like personality, a steadier relationship with your own history, and the ability to trust your own read on your life again.
THERAPY FOR PARENTS
Help that reaches your child starts
with you
Steadier footing for the everyday hard parts with specialized care when your family formed through adoption, your child has OCD or ARFID, or your kid’s identity, body, or neurodivergent brain means the usual playbook doesn’t fit.
Your family may have come together through adoption, surrogacy, or donor conception, and the parenting books keep describing a family that isn’t yours.
Your kid might be navigating who they are and how the world sees them: gender, sexuality, race, culture, faith, disability, a complex medical history, or a neurodivergent brain that works differently than school expects.
Your child might feel everything and every feeling takes up the whole room.
Or ARFID or OCD has moved into your house, and the help out there overlooks the person who shows up for your child every single day and holds it together at dinner every night: you.
Parenting this particular kid can pull things up from your own childhood. It’s not a detour from helping your child, it’s actually part of it.
WHAT THE WORK LOOKS LIKE
This is therapy for you, as a parent and as a person.
When your kid is struggling, their behavior is often a signal about what’s happening inside them and around them. Aside from the support your child receives, there’s often meaningful work for you, too. The patterns, fears, and old wounds you bring into parenting shape how the whole family feels, and a regulated parent changes the weather system of a home. Your child gets to stay a child instead of becoming the patient.
ARFID and OCD
CBT-AR (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) is a structured and evidence-based approach designed specifically for ARFID.
Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) is the gold-standard treatment for OCD.
With children, much of this work runs through you, because learning to step back from accommodating the avoidance or the compulsion is one of the hardest parts.
You’ll gain a way of understanding your child that comes from knowing them, steadiness that holds on during the hard evenings, and confidence that you can lead your family through this.
Signs supportive parent
therapy could help
You react in ways you swore you wouldn’t. Your child’s hard moments keep pulling up your own childhood. You’ve read the books, and the strategies don’t stick. You’re managing everyone’s feelings and have nothing left for yours.
Therapy intensives
beyond the weekly hour
An intensive is extended therapy time, scheduled close together, for what a standing weekly hour can’t reach — a crisis or hard season that needs more than 50 minutes, trauma work that keeps getting interrupted just as progress happens, or a family decision that has to be made in the next month.
Intensives are built individually, with length and structure set together with you.
PAYMENT AND INSURANCE
Private pay and what it
makes possible
Private pay means your care is built around what the work needs: sessions that run as long as they should, time to coordinate with other providers, and no diagnosis required to be seen.
Sessions are $150 for 50 minutes. If you’d like to use out-of-network benefits, I can provide superbills you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, and you’ll receive a Good Faith Estimate before your first session. More details in the FAQ.
How this works
-
01
A FREE 15-MINUTE CONSULT
You share roughly what’s going on. I’ll tell you honestly whether I’m the right fit, and if I’m not, I’ll point you to someone who might be.
-
02
A FIRST FULL SESSION
More history, more context, and a shared sense of what we’re working on. You don’t need to have it organized beforehand.
-
03
A PLAN BUILT AROUND YOUR LIFE
We decide the length, frequency, and format together. Whether that’s weekly sessions, an intensive, or something else that fits.
-
04
KEEP EVERYONE IN THE LOOP
Where it helps, I coordinate with the people who support you or your child, like a doctor, psychiatrist, school, or occupational therapist, so everyone has the same full picture to work from.
Virtual therapy
throughout
Michigan and Florida
Liberated Therapy is a virtual therapy practice based in Detroit, Michigan, serving clients across Michigan and Florida. All sessions are held online via secure telehealth video.
A fully virtual practice means specialized care reaches people who would otherwise have to drive a long way for it, which matters most for treatments that are hard to find locally. Therapy for ARFID using CBT-AR, Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and adoption-competent parent support are all available to Michigan residents from wherever they are.
You don’t need to have it all figured out
Arriving unsure, mid-mess, and without words for what you’re walking through is exactly where most people begin.
